What are some non-prescription ways to deal with or cure eczema?

What is a great way to cure or even better, eliminate eczema in children around 18 months old?
What is great treat for eczema in children 18 months old?

With eczema, its important to keep the areas clean and moist with moisturizers. Use fragrance free and hypoallergenic products. Learn what your child’s triggers are and help them avoid those triggers.

Make sure that after their bath that you get them dried well by patting their skin dry rather than wiping so you don’t further irritate their skin.

I know Aveeno has baby products. The oatmeal in Aveeno is very soothing. My mom used to bathe me in baking soda baths but I’m not sure if I was that young when she started. You may want to ask a doctor or call something like First Nurse.

Make sure your child isn’t scratching it. Put gloves or socks on their hands and/or keep their nails cut short. I still have to cut my nails short in the winter otherwise I scratch while I’m sleeping.

I really don’t think there’s a cure for eczema. Although, some people who have it as kids grow out of it.

My son is now 18 months old and has eczema since about 3 months old. I tried EVERYTHING..diets..lotions etc… nothing seemed to work well. Then we took him to a dermatoligist and she gave us some options that have halped control it other then steroid prescription (which we have used for exteme breakouts)

    1. give a 20+ min bath before bed. Take baby out of bath and while still wet (do not dry first) cover all effected areas (was arms, legs and cheek on my poor lil guy) with 100% pure safflower oil. Yes I know it sounds strange. Then cover up in pajamas so they can’t rub it off. After a week or so doing this i really saw a difference.

    2. We use Triderma baby eczema lotion…i have only seen it at Babys R US and it is available on their website. Its a little pricey but seems to help more then most. Also the Huggies brand lotions make an "eczema" lotion that i liked..but only was able to find once.

HOWEVER the very best thing i tried i read in a "home cure" book at the library..i have been applying ORIGINAL (not moisturizing or aloe..or whatever) Noxema..yes the white face cream..i bought the generic CVS brand but its the same thing..it works WONDERS and is cheap too…it doesn’t burn or sting or anything..even on bad spots..

Also..because of the severity of my sons eczema he was getting infections because he would scratch the areas. So make sure to keep the areas as clean as possible because once infected it is really hard to fight and its hard to tell what is infected and what is just eczema.

I hope this helps..and good luck with it all
